Borewell Water Sample Test Report : Unusual Physical Properties - Explanation Sought! - Panipat

We are having a borewell in Panipat town which is nearly 1000 feet deep. The TDS of water is 400PPm and Total Hardness is 150 PPM but water of the borewell is warm and some lubrication is noticed when hands are washed with soap. what is the reason behind this phenomenon.

Details from the test report are as follows:

TDS                     400PPM

T.H.                      150PPM

Dear Mr. Amit,

Water is warm because it is coming from the depth of 1000 feet.
The lubricating effect is noticed because of low calcium and magnesium. Soap reacts with calcium and magnesium so the soft or so called lubricating effect disappear. If adequate calcium and magnesium are not present then the lubricating effect is experienced You may confirm this by using distilled water.

Dear Sir,

In the vicinity of Tahsil camp area a large waste water channel popularly known as ganda naala flows. This kachha channel carries human excreta and all filthy solid wastes including some dye house effluent. What i fear, this waste which is full of dissolved organic and inorganic matters may have percolated to ground water thus increasing bacterial activity and huge slime growth.

This slime growth is causing lubricity in this water.

You should chlorinate this water up to breakpoint chlorination and than see if lubricity disappears or not.

Dear sir

Oil content test will give clear picture of the said water
If water temperature is more than usual ground water temp i.e. 20-30 deg celcius than we may call it warm.

I would like to know the exact location in Panipat so to come to any conclusion.

Dear Sir

Since depth of the borewell is 1000 feet and pumping from this depth require energy to lift this water,If this energy is not being used in lifting water it will be consumed by converting in heat. Water will get heated when

1) there is insufficient flow, this will cause churning inside the centrifugal pump.

2)At discharge low quantity of water is being taken by throttling valve.

3)There is loose impeller/impellers

In my opinion measure correct water temperature at regular interval and see if it is constant.

check pump flow is matching with pump capacity.

regards
