Location of Water Leaks : Modern Techniques? - Guwahati, Assam

We have a problem of walls getting wet, probably from a leaking pipe somewhere behind the walls and cannot locate the source. Local plumbers (in Guwahati, Assam) are trying all sorts of trial and error methods and breaking up several parts of the walls. Are there any suitable modern techniques to detect such leaks through the wall / structural units? Contact information of suitable equipped companies from Guwahati would be welcome.

Dear Atanu Saha,

There are lots of instruments based on direct listening and leaks sound correlation theory. In direct listening device they catch the sound from leak through accelerometer and headphone.

Dear Mr. Atanu Saha,

For the problem, as you have mentioned, certain clarifications are needed.

(i) whether the water pipeline is behind the wall or it is concealed one?

(ii) whether the pipeline is of GI or PVC? Also how old it is?

If the pipeline is concealed in the wall, then you may perhaps start inspection of leaks in the pipeline by breaking the cover of the pipe trenches and for this, work may be started from the wet portion of the wall.

If the pipeline is not concealed, then mere shifting of the pipeline may solve your purpose.

Your reply is awaited. if needed you may contact me on 09435045921 also. You are always welcome to contact me for solving your problems.

Thanking you.

Dear Mr Gaud and Sarma,

Thanks for your reply.

We were unable to find anyone with any devices, so the plumbers (who originally laid them while constructing these new flats) have started to break the walls to access the hidden GI pipes. They haven't succeeded yet in locating any leaks.

They will try the other bathroom now.
