Kindly let me know the various types of aerators. comparision data containing the energy consumption vis-a-vis oxygen transfrer.  Also high effiency type  and manufacturlers detaisl.






There are several ways of aerating. The common ones are diffusers being fed air by Roots Blower or by Rotating (Carousel type) floating aerators. They generally transfer oxygen at the rate of about 18 to 22 KGs/Day/HP.

While Submersible Jet Aerators transfer 40 KGs of Oxygen per Day per HP.

All aerators have their own advantages. Standard oxygenation efficiencies are:

For diffused aeration: 1.2-1.8 kg oxygen/

Fine bubble aeration: 1.4-2.0 kg oxygen/

For surface aeration: 1.8-2.6 kg oxygen/

It means that diffused aeration requires maximum energy to oxygenate effluent as compoared to surface aeration. By experience, it is found that floating aerators are efficient and effective till abouyt 30 hp per aerator. For higher aeration demands, surface aeration is the right choice.

It would be better if you let us know the specific type of effluent with flow per day, characteristics like BOD, COD, TDS, TSS, etc. so that the most appropriate aeration system can be designed.
